At the 6th Busan Maritime Finance Seminar, Dong-Hae Lee, Director of the Maritime Finance Center, presented on the "Structure and Legal Issues of Ship Tax Lease & Strategies for Specializing Financial Centers."

In his presentation, Director Lee introduced the structure of ship tax leases as a means to encourage private financing for eco-friendly ship conversions. He outlined the key legal issues requiring adjustments under the current system, categorized into four areas:

1. 1. Accelerated depreciation
2. 2. Depreciation entities
3. 3. Consolidated taxation
4. 4. SPC equity ownership

Additionally, Director Lee discussed specialized strategies for the Busan financial hub, such as establishing ship investment companies and ship management firms within the Munhyeon Opportunity Development Zone in Busan to expand regional private financial participation. He concluded by elaborating on the expected positive impacts of the tax lease system on Busan's development as a financial hub.
