President Myongho Rhee attended the launch ceremony of BNK Financial Group’s Maritime Finance Future Strategy Think Lab, held at Busan Bank, in his capacity as chair of the new think lab.

BNK Financial Group established the Maritime Finance Future Strategy Think Lab within Busan Bank to lead the development of maritime finance, one of Busan’s key specialized industries. The launch formed part of BNK’s broader plan to establish expert-led research groups in maritime finance, consumer protection, and AI and digital finance, in line with the Korean government’s AI and digital policy direction and the Financial Services Commission’s policy priorities of productive finance, inclusive finance, and trusted finance.

The Maritime Finance Future Strategy Think Lab was created in response to growing financial demand from the maritime industry, particularly in connection with the relocation of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries to Busan. It aims to develop systematic financial strategies to support Busan’s vision as Korea’s maritime capital, identify new growth engines linked to the maritime industry, and contribute to balanced regional development and national maritime competitiveness.
