ㅇ On July 24, 2024, Donghae Lee was appointed as Director of the Maritime Finance Center at the Busan Finance Center ㅇ Director Dong-hae Lee of the Maritime Finance Center joined Korea Development Bank (KDB) in 1989 and has served as Head of the Maritime Finance Department, working for over 30 years as an expert in international finance. While with KDB, he gained extensive experience in international finance through assignments in London and New York. In maritime finance, he contributed to the creation of the “KDB Let's Together Shipping Fund,” valued at USD 800 million (approx. KRW 1 trillion) in 2009, and was instrumental in the administration of a USD 2.4 billion (approx. KRW 3.15 trillion) newbuilding support program established as part of the government’s “5-Year Shipping Rebuild Plan” in 2018. ㅇ Prior to joining the Maritime Finance Center, he also served as Deputy Director of the Maritime Law Research Center at Korea University. In 2021, he earned a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Korea Maritime and Ocean University with a dissertation titled “An Empirical Analysis on Determinants of Debt Servicing Capability in Ship Finance During Shipping Downturns.” ㅇ Notably, during his tenure at KDB, he served as the head of the Maritime Finance Integrated Center, jointly operated by the Export-Import Bank of Korea, Korea Trade Insurance Corporation, and KDB, making significant contributions to the development of Korea’s ship finance sector.
